Medals
Reference:3948 A Suite of Moral Medals, c. 1690
A uniform series of three medals, each carrying a pair numbered scenes(1-6), relating to beauty, love and marriage. Silver, 32 mm. (1.25 inches), unsigned, but almost certainly by Georg Hautsch.
Condition: Good extremely fine, evenly and most attractively toned.
Notes: There is a long tradition of Germanic medals carrying scenes of a biblical and moralistic nature. Georg Hautsch (1664-1736) was a prolific medallist and coin engraver, working principally in Nuremberg and Vienna.
References: Goppl # 1043-44 (for the last two medals, with scenes 3-6).
