Reference:4867 Assault on Copenhagen: Peace between Denmark and Sweden, 1659

Bust of Christian V of Denmark and Norway, armoured and draped, to right.

A celestial arm holding a long sword, with which an arm is sliced at the hand, preventing it from reaching a crown, top centre, marked COPENHAGEN.

By H.L.T.

Silver. Oval, 34 x 42 mm.

Condition: Very fine, trace of mount mark on top edge.

Notes:

This medal consititues two thin oval plates of silver, which have been joined at the edge by a continuous broad border, into which they neatly fit. The metal has flaked at the highest point of the relief, this being on the hand holding the sword; the design on the reverse is an extraordinary composition.
