Medals

Reference:5579 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, 1953

Crowned bust of Queen Elizabeth II to right.

An integrated floral spray of rose, thistle and shamrock.

By Ernest Fey.

Silver 51 mm.

Condition: Extremely Fine

Notes:

Struck by Turner and Simpson and contained in its original case of issue. The medal is fully-hallmarked and carries the punch of the Queen's head, to denote its assay mark and issue in the coronation year.

The prohibitive cost of these medals - at well over 2 guineas each, plus purchase tax - may explain why so few were struck in silver.
