Reference:5292 King William III, Return to Holland and his Triumphant Entry into the Hague, 1691

The King together with his retinue being rowed in a boat, which approaches the shore at ORANIE POLD, towards rides a horseman in welcome; a fleet of ships across the horizon. /

A palace seen through the arches of an ornamental gateway, with a statue of an equestrian figure of William III atop the central dome.

By Martin Smeltzing.

White metal. 50 mm.

Condition: Very fine

Notes:

A small circular piercing near the top edge, but an attractive and scarce medal, the King's return to Holland having been occasioned by considerable fanfare and the making of many such medals.
