Medals

Reference:5264 Count Hermann Keyserling, 1928

Bust of Hermann Keyserling three-quarters left, his head in full profile.

By Theodore Spicer-Simson.

Bronze, cast. 117 mm.

Condition: Extremely fine

Notes:

Count Hermann Keyserling (1880-1946), writer and philosopher, born in Livonia and the scion of a wealthy aristocratic Baltic family. The medal provides a penetrating study of the sitter and coincides with the publication in the same year of his seminal work, America Set Free.

The cast medallic work of Spicer-Simson was produced in very small numbers, and it is thought that less than six examples of this particular medal were made; this is the first to be seen on the market.
